5 Days of Diwali in Maharashtra (2025) 
  • Dhanteras (October 18): Marks the beginning of Diwali. People clean their homes and purchase metal items, gold, or silver for prosperity. Narak Chaturdashi (October 20): 
  • Also known as Choti Diwali, it commemorates Lord Krishna's victory over the demon Narakasura. An early morning oil bath is a common ritual. Diwali / Lakshmi Puja (October 20): 
  • The main day is dedicated to worshipping Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and prosperity. Families perform Lakshmi Puja and light lamps and diyas. Govardhan Puja (October 22): 
  • Celebrates Lord Krishna lifting the Govardhan Hill. Devotees prepare food to offer. Bhai Dooj (October 23): 
  • Celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, where sisters pray for their brothers' well-being.
